When & How to Clear the Java Cache on Windows

Normally, using Bay ROES on Windows requires that Java be installed first. The temporary Java files that are created and used when running the Bay ROES application (commonly called the "Java cache") can become corrupt or outdated, and can cause issues with proper function of Bay ROES.

Issues such as the Product and Options columns and/or various buttons being inactive or not appearing properly, problems with rendering items in the Shopping Cart, or issues with completing an order for sending, may be solved by clearing the files in the Java cache.

  1. If you have an order in progress, save the order first.
  2. After saving the order, close ROES.
  3. Click on the Start Menu button in the bottom left, and select the Control Panel.
    • For Windows 8 and Windows 10 users, the easiest way to access the Control Panel is to right-click on the Start Menu button and select Control Panel from the menu that appears.

  4. In the Control Panel, click the Programs heading, then the Java icon.
    • If the window is configured to view by Icons instead of Categories, there will be a Java icon listed in the main Control Panel window.

  5. In the Java Control Panel that opens, click on the Settings button.

  6. In the Temporary File Settings window that opens, click the Delete Files button.

  7. In the Delete Files window, check the 3rd box for Installed Applications & Applets, then click OK.

  8. When those temporary files have been cleared, the Delete Files window with the checkboxes will close automatically.
  9. You can then close the Java Control Panel windows.
  10. NOTE: the desktop icon for all ROES versions will be removed, so you will need to relaunch Bay ROES from the main site.
***The following is only for users who have launched Bay ROES using the 'launch.msi' installer.***
This version does not require that Java be installed separately, so the cache files are cleared in a different way:
  1. Save your order, then close ROES.
  2. Browse to C:\Program Data\

  3. Delete the entire SWROES folder.

  4. Relaunch Bay ROES either from the desktop icon, or from the Start Menu.
