When you order prints from Bay Photo and choose to have them Color Corrected, each image will be individually evaluated by one of our skilled color technicians for exposure, white balance, contrast, and saturation. Each technician is highly trained and tested to ensure they can perceive hue, saturation, and luminance within an objective standard.
As always, if an order is color corrected by Bay Photo, it is fully guaranteed by us that the final products received will be satisfactory in regard to the overall color, brightness, contrast, and saturation.
What Color Correction can do:
- Color Correction will provide a global adjustment to your files to compensate for exposure and white balance issues and to provide neutral color and consistent prints throughout your order.
- Color Correctors are well versed in the many styles of photography (wedding, portrait, nature, wildlife, fashion, still life, architectural, abstract, ect.) and will endeavor to stay true to your vision while enhancing your images for the best possible prints.
What Color Correction cannot do:
- Because our corrections are global to the entire file, we cannot provide selective color or density adjustments to specific areas of an image without changing the rest of the file. These types of selective color adjustments can be achieved by our Digital Artwork team and can be ordered through the "Retouching Options" tab in Bay ROES.
- When we cannot determine "artistic intent", and there is no clear exposure or white balance error to fix, our technicians will default to no corrections being made. We feel that it is better to produce your print as is than to make an uninformed guess.
Guide Prints
In general, if you are attempting to achieve a specific result, or to match an existing print or other media, it is best to handle the adjustments yourself and order our discounted Workprints through Bay ROES to verify your adjustments.
However, there may be situations when this is not possible due to time constraints or other factors, and in these cases, you may provide Bay Photo with a guide print to use as a reference when we color correct your order. Matching guide prints will incur a $10 surcharge per image due to the internal test prints required for an accurate match, which includes a Digital Upload of the color corrected file. Turnaround times for guide matched prints are doubled.
Please be aware that it is not always possible to perfectly match prints from one media to another. Our technicians will strive for the closest overall match to your guide print.
